What is it about?
As energy and climate policies worldwide increasingly embrace fuel cells and hydrogen (FCH) systems, ensuring their sustainability remains a pressing concern. In this context, the EU-funded HyPEF project develops and implements science-based criteria and procedures to guarantee the environmental suitability of FCH products, promoting transparency and comparability in their life-cycle environmental profiles. By following the principles of transparency and reproducibility, HyPEF aims to establish a rigorous framework for evaluating the environmental impact of FCH products. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the project will advance Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCRs) tailored to FCH products, improving data quality and availability and offering policy recommendations for environmentally responsible investment.
