Evolving regulations and projects: dialogue between operators and authorities of the hydrogen sector on safety, procedures and civil society involvement” is the title of the workshop organized by the Italian Hydrogen Association H2IT in collaboration with HYPOP, aand coordinated by Environment Park. The meeting will take place on Friday 23rd of May from 10.30 to 12.30 in the context of the .

Hydrogen is one of the key solutions for the energy transition. Still, its large-scale deployment is closely linked to the definition of harmonised and effective safety, authorisation, and certification procedures. This workshop will present HYPOP’s first results and future guidelines, offering an overview of regulations, approaches, and reference standards adopted in different European countries to ensure the safety of installations and the management of authorisation processes.

During the workshop, industry experts, certification bodies, industries and public authorities will share their experiences, with a particular focus on the crucial role of fire fighters and other actors involved in safety management. Another key moment will be dedicated to the permitting, with an overview of recent regulatory developments in Italy.

Through round tables, the workshop will facilitate a discussion between permit-issuing and permit-obtaining, to identify ways to speed up and improve procedures. Gathering feedback from participants through a final questionnaire will further refine the emerging safety and permitting guidelines of the HYPOP project, Helping to build a more effective and accessible regulatory framework for the hydrogen transition in Italy and Europe.
